About The Role

If you are a creative and person-centred marketing and communications specialist, who is interested in contributing to an area of work that makes a real difference to the lives of families with children and young people then we want to hear from you.

We are part of a three year programme to establish Family Hubs. Family Hubs provide high-quality, joined-up, whole-family services to families in Islington. We have launched three Family Hubs as part of our broader approach to supporting families. We want to make sure that our residents know what's on offer through our Family Hubs, and know how to access services. We are seeking a Digital Marketing, Communications and Engagement Officer to help us achieve this aim, working on a fixed term, part time (3 days a week) contract.

This role is an essential part of communicating our offer to families. We are looking for someone who:
  • Is curious, enjoys being proactive and finding creative solutions.
  • Thinks critically about their audiences and is strategic in their efforts.
  • Can deliver and continuously update a marketing, communications and engagement plan. This plan is for both external and internal stakeholders.
  • Can monitor and evaluate communications activity.
  • Can develop and deliver a range of campaigns for the programme, focusing on driving access to our services.
  • Can be an expert for the programme for communications and marketing.

Working for the team, service and our organisation

Islington is a place rich with diversity and culture. As a council our sense of purpose couldn’t be clearer: we serve. It’s in the logo. We are committed to challenging inequality in the borough and as one of the largest employers we know that to look after the place and the planet, we have to look after our people. Together we can change the future.

We are determined to create a more equal Islington, where everyone who lives here has an equal chance to thrive.

To do this, everyone who works at Islington Council lives by a set of values which guide us in everything that we do: collaborative, ambitious, resourceful, and empowering. They spell out ‘CARE’, which is what we think public service is all about.

Watch our video to hear more about our mission and how you can help us achieve it from the Leader of the Council, Cllr Kaya Comer-Schwartz.
