About The Role

Area Cleaning Manager

Job overview:

The Council has moved to a new Corporate Landlord model, bringing together into one service that range of functions related to our buildings and assets, to ensure that all assets are safe, compliant, well maintained, and used to deliver the maximum benefits for the communities we are here to serve.

Our Cleaning Operations Team is an essential part of this service.

We are looking to recruit an Area Cleaning Manager to join our large and busy team. The role will be responsible for monitoring and ensuring the high-quality outcomes and standards of the building cleaning and window cleaning services at the sites defined, leading a team of cleaning supervisors and operatives, and forging and building strong relationships with the premises representatives.

Main duties:

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supervising the provision of high quality, safe and hygienic cleaning, and window cleaning services across sites to meet the requirements set out in the Service Level Agreement.
  • Supervising and co-ordinating team activities, allocating work fairly across the team in a way that best utilises staff skills and knowledge and recognises individual potential.
  • Setting up, implementing, and maintaining adequate procedures and cover arrangements to meet the needs of the service including sufficiency of staff, working equipment (monitoring, arranging ordering/repairs as appropriate) and finance.
  • Undertaking frequent health and safety checks and quality checks across Islington Council sites in relation to Building Cleaning

We are looking for someone who has considerable experience in a relevant supervisory position to a large and complex organisation, and of updating and maintaining management, financial and administrative systems necessary for the delivery of cost-effective, high-quality services.

Ability to lead, motivate and manage staff, together with excellent communication skills will be essential. You must be able to prioritise and work effectively under pressure to tight timescales.

Working for our organisation:

The Cleaning Operations Team is part of the Corporate Facilities Team, which sits within the New Homes and Corporate Landlord Service. This service brings together development and management of all council owned and managed assets (other than existing housing stock) into one place and supports delivery of our Corporate Landlord model. You will be part of the wider Community Wealth Building directorate which aims to put people at the heart of economic development, working with residents, communities, and businesses to tackle economic inequality and create an economy that works for everyone.

Ensuring our corporate estate is clean and safe for our staff and residents is key, so if you want to be part of delivering our vision and have the skills and experience, we need, then we would love to hear from you.
