Are you a senior data analyst with a strong background in development and data engineering? Do you have the skills and knowledge to design and implement complex data solutions across Microsoft Azure and other cloud technology landscapes? Do you want to work in a leading and innovative organisation that uses data to create business and user value?

If yes, then we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our Data Infrastructure team as a Senior Data Analyst - Developer. You will lead the design and implementation of data flows and data products to connect operational systems, data for analytics and business intelligence (BI) systems. You will lead the build of data systems and work on designing and implementing complex data solutions ranging from batch to streaming and event-driven designs. You will lead the development and construction of data products and services and integrate these into systems and business processes for use by data analysts across the council.

 
Main duties

As a Senior Data Analyst - Developer, you will also:

  • Help the organisation to create business and user value from data, using analytical techniques to derive insights and opportunities to improve.
  • Work in partnership with services to help them understand, manipulate, and link their data, taking responsibility for improving data quality and accessibility.
  • Lead on developing and building dashboards and tools for Digital Services management operations.
  • Use the best of modern data technologies and platforms, including ongoing investigation and research into emerging technology and assist policy staff in understanding and translating their needs to an actionable analytical/data science project.
  • Be able to advise on how data should be cleansed and prepared ready for use and produce and compare different data models for data cleansing and data enrichment techniques.
  • Provide support for the Data Engineer, assisting with synapse pipelines and data transformation and the design and creation of Data Marts to present structured data sets to the presentation layer.
  • Ensure the Councils Data practice policies standards are upheld and adhered to by the Councils data community.


Working for our organisation

This role will report to the Digital Services Head of Data Infrastructure.

Working for the Islington Council Digital Services Data team means being part of a group responsible for designing and implementing data solutions to support the council's insights community. As a team member, you will work closely with various stakeholders to understand their requirements and develop data solutions that align with the council's goals and objectives.

Your role might involve analysing existing systems, identifying areas for improvement, and designing efficient and secure data solutions. This could include defining system integration strategies, and ensuring compliance with data protection and security standards.

Additionally, you may collaborate with other teams and external vendors to coordinate implementation efforts, provide technical guidance, and support, and contribute to the overall Digital strategy of the Islington Council. It's an important role that contributes to enhancing the council's data capabilities and supporting the efficient delivery of services to the community.
