SEND Development Officer

Full-time 36 hours per week

Salary:  £38,040 - £42,735 per annum

Fixed term to 31st  March 2020

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced SEND practitioner or manager to apply their skills and experience across a broader platform, working systemically to contribute to the development of effective and sustainable SEND practice and provision across Barnet.

You will be a member of a vibrant and innovative SEND team, working in partnership with parent carers, children and young people with SEND, schools and settings, managers and practitioners across Education, Health and Social Care.

You will need successful experience of co-production with children and young people with SEND and their parent carers in policy development. You will also need experience of working with school leaders, teachers, and other partners to address issues of SEND and ensure good quality provision.

The role provides an excellent opportunity for the post holder to help shape strategic developments in SEND, and to build on existing good practice and provision in Barnet to further improve the outcomes and life chances for children and young people with SEND, 0 – 25 years.

For an informal discussion about the post please contact Helen Phelan, Assistant Director, SEND and Inclusion, Tel: 0789 2705771.

Closing date for applications:  Friday 18th  January 2019 at 5.00 pm

Interviews will be held on Monday 28th  January 2019

We value diversity.

Applicant requirements

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the resident labour market test. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UKVI website. From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement. Guidance can be found here Criminal Records Checks for Overseas Applicants.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
