Headteacher, Prior Weston Primary School and Children’s Centre

Starting September 2019

Salary range: £85K - £95k (or more for exceptional candidate)

Prior Weston Primary School and Children’s Centre is set in a vibrant, exciting and stimulating campus next to the Barbican Centre. Sharing fantastic modern facilities with Richard Cloudesley Special School, our school is a stimulating and fulfilling place to be.

We want Prior Weston to be a centre of outstanding academic achievement with a strong creative profile. To achieve this we need an experienced and passionate leader to enthuse, excite and help shape the future of our children and the next stage of the school’s development.

We realise there is a job to be done in raising standards, performance results and visibility in the community, especially in the context of other local schools, including a recently established academy nearby. However our objective is to be the first choice of primary school in Islington and City of London area.

It is a great place to work, with a strong community spirit and a supportive governing body within a borough which offers high quality, professional support to its community of schools. We want someone of integrity and presence to lead the education of 507 children from 6 months to 11 years, motivate and inspire our committed staff to ensure each child achieves their absolute best and to bring their skills to make the most of the opportunities the school and its location offer. If you are that person, we would love to hear from you.

Applicant requirements

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the resident labour market test. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UKVI website. From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement. Guidance can be found here Criminal Records Checks for Overseas Applicants.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
