We are looking for a politically-aware person that shares the values of the Labour Party to join the strong team supporting the Leader of the Council and Labour Group councillors at one of the country’s most dynamic and innovative local authorities.

This is an exciting opportunity to gain invaluable experience in the world of politics, whilst being part of a busy and dynamic office, where you will contribute to achieving our ambition of making Islington a fairer place for all.

You will provide day-to-day administrative support to councillors to assist them in delivering their duties as elected representatives; support the Labour Group Office to provide timely and insightful political support to councillors; and help develop new influencing strategies to secure positive outcomes for local people.

You should have experience of working in a political environment, ideally directly in support of MPs or councillors. The role would suit someone looking to build on their knowledge and experience of politics, and who is keen to see ideas put into practice.

You must be flexible in how you work, and enjoy working as part of a team. Regular evening work will be required.

A friendly and positive manner is essential, as well as a problem-solving attitude and the ability to respect confidentiality.

If you have excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, are able to build good relations with a variety of people, take the initiative and work as part of a team, we want to hear from you.

For an informal chat about the role, you can call Matt Rhodes, Head of the Labour Group Office & Leader’s Policy Adviser, on 020 7527 3389.
