Social Worker SCP 32-39 to work in Acute Mental Health (with an additional four increments available for working as an Islington London Borough AMHP)

Please note, to be considered for this position you must hold a current AMHP warrant.

We are currently seeking applications from experienced registered Social Workers to join our Mental Health Liaison Service at the Whittington Hospital. We are looking for caring and creative individuals who have a positive approach to work, a strong multi-disciplinary team-working ethic and excellent leadership potential.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead on the provision of mental health social work within an acute hospital setting – inclusive of the Accident & Emergency Department, two section 136 suites, inpatient medical wards, and a new developed mental health suite.

The successful candidate will have an excellent understanding of risk management and an in-depth knowledge of the Mental Health Act as well as awareness and/or experience of social systems working and a commitment to caring for service users in the least restrictive environment. You will have a therapeutic approach to care and will naturally involve service users and their carers in care planning and treatment decisions. Excellent communication skills and the ability to teach and mentor junior staff are also essential.

Our Trust’s values are important to us and to our service users and we are seeking individuals who will be able to demonstrate these values in their work. Above all, we are seeking individuals who put service users at the heart of everything they do.

We offer a supportive working environment with plenty of opportunities to learn and grow both personally and professionally through training, supervision and appraisal. In addition to clinical/practitioner skills development you will also be able to access a range of management and leadership development opportunities.

The Mental Health Liaison Team is a 24/7 service, 365 days a year. As a Social Worker you will not be required to work night shifts and flexible working can be considered.
