Senior Lift Engineer

If you are an experienced Lift Engineer with drive, ambition and the ability to manage a lift refurbishment and lift maintenance programme this will be an opportunity for you. The opportunity is for a Senior Lift Engineer to join our Housing Repairs Service Team.

You will be responsible for the management and delivery of Lift maintenance and refurbishment projects within the London Borough of Islington from inception through to completion of works on site.

To assist the Repairs and Maintenance M&E Manager to co-ordinate an efficient, cost effective and customer focused responsive housing repairs service to approximately 358 Lift Units, and will be responsible for supporting the M&E Manager in statutory and professional accountabilities and service delivery.

To provide a professional lift engineering service, design and maintenance and to integrate the team into an effective accountable organisation, to ensure that projects and maintenance programmes are professionally delivered on time, to budget and agreed quality standards.

To successfully direct and manage the Lift Engineers and service provider’s contractors to deliver a comprehensive repairs & Maintenance Lift service to agreed standards and targets.

To ensure high levels of productivity, cost effectiveness and quality ensuring maximum performance of all resources in accordance with the standards, policies and working procedures of Islington Council.

To identify and implement continued improvements and efficiencies across the housing Lift repairs & Maintenance service.

The successful candidate will ideally have a proven track record managing lift maintenance and refurbishment replacement works with the ability to ensure the highest possible standards are maintained.

You will manage and coordinate your own workload with minimal supervision. You will have a good understanding of procurement and contract administration and the ability to produce detailed technical reports for various project stakeholders.

The post holder will be responsible for assisting with contract management of the procured services in this area, ensuring regular operational and strategic meetings deliver the best result from the contract.

The successful candidate will have excellent technical knowledge of Lift engineering and the ability to manage a small team. The role will require strong, interpersonal, IT and communication skills. You will also have the ability to overcome challenges which may arise to ensure projects are delivered on time and to budget.

You will be responsible for the development of a forward five-year asset management plan ensuring all lifts are maintained to a satisfactory standard and are fully compliant with the latest statutory regulations and codes of practice.

You will be expected to be conversant with the requirements of all statutory Health and Safety policies and procedures and the latest CDM Regulations to effectively carry out the role.

A Standard DBS 'Disclosure and Barring Service' check for regulated activity (formerly known as CRB) will be required for this role.
