An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead Islington's award-winning parks service into its next phase of development. Islington is oft quoted for its small amount of public open space but what is lacking in quantity is made up for in quality. You will be building on the significant level of community involvement, an engaging events and volunteering programme and a grounds service with high levels of public satisfaction.

You will be responsible for a large in-house grounds maintenance service, ranger, nature conservation and events teams, and an assets and projects team delivering a significant capital programme of parks improvements. You will be creating a vision and strategy for the next 10 years and leading the teams to deliver that vision in a period of significant challenge for the public sector. You will also be responsible for continuing to deliver the digital transformation of the service and developing commercial activity for events and traded services.

You will be a strong leader with a clear sense of vision and a strong track record of delivering successful outcomes in parks, environmental or similar background. You will have strong communication skills and an ability to build partnerships with a broad range of stakeholders. You will need robust budget management and project management skills with a significant revenue budget and capital programme to manage. You will be innovative and entrepreneurial and a driver of change and transformation, delivering both excellence and value for money.
