Deputy Team Leader - Projects

Islington is one of the most exciting and dynamic parts of London and is experiencing rapid growth in housing and employment. To accommodate this growth and provide both existing and new residents and businesses with a high quality built environment, the Council is working with developers and partner organisations to deliver regeneration in Islington.

The Council's Economic Development, Projects and Transport Planning Service plays a key role in influencing development and delivering improvements in Islington. We are looking for a new colleague with a development, housing and project management related background to take on a varied and challenging work programme, including a major Council housing and leisure redevelopment project.

The successful candidate will be expected to have:

• experience of applying planning policies and procurement practices, and an understanding of the development sector to progress projects and prepare planning documents;
• proven ability to deliver projects within a recognised project management framework;
• up to date understanding of recent changes in legislation and policy affecting the planning, housing and development sector; and
• skills to successfully drive the process of major mixed-use regeneration projects to meet the Council’s objectives.

You must have very good communication skills and be able to work creatively and constructively within a team, with other parts of the Council and partner organisations. A crucial part of this role will be your ability to work positively with stakeholders, the local community and elected members to deliver projects in line with the Council’s priorities.

Applicants are encouraged to contact Eshwyn Prabhu on 020 7527 2450 before the closing date for a confidential discussion about this role prior to applying.

Closing date: Wednesday 28 June at 23:59
Interview date: Thursday 13 July 2017
