The Early Years and Childcare Service in Islington is looking for staff to lead and manage some of its council run nurseries which are a key part of our recently transformed Bright Start services for under-fives and families. A reorganisation of early childhood services has resulted in a separation of the responsibilities for early years childcare and education from the other children’s centre services. The new management structure for the five council run children’s centres and one early years centre sees a pairing of nurseries with overall responsibility for childcare and early education overseen by an executive head, supported by a head of nursery. 

Willow Children’s Centre is a state of the art purpose-built children’s centre. The centre is based off the Holloway Road and close to Tufnell Park.

The Head of Nursery role is responsible for the day to day operational running of the nursery and supports the Executive Head in providing vision, direction and leadership to ensure high quality childcare and early education and positive outcomes for children. 

You will need to have had substantial experience of delivering and taking responsibility for the improvement of high quality early years practice and provision: the vacancy requires successful candidates to hold either QTS or EYT status.
