Service Manager - Youth Offending Service, 12 months Fixed term, Maternity Cover

(Secondments will be considered from applicants with the required skillset)

We have an exciting opportunity to join Islington’s Youth Offending Services management team.

The post holder will provide operational leadership and management and support senior staff in setting out the strategic direction for the multi-agency youth offending team. The role is to ensure all managers and staff within the service are fully supported to ensure young people are safeguarded and deliver effective and creative approaches to reduce offending and reoffending and serious youth violence.

The YOS's high priority status was removed by the Youth Justice Board in January 18 due to the significant progress that has been made in performance in recent times. This includes considerable reductions in the numbers of First Time Entrants and custodial sentences. The post holder will help contribute towards the continuation of these successes.

The successful candidate will have significant skills and experience of leading and managing staff within a youth justice setting, an excellent understanding of the importance of strong partnership approaches to prevent youth offending, gang involvement and exploitation.

The post reports to the Head of Service for Targeted Youth Support and Youth Offending and Integrated Gangs and is located within the Islington’s Youth & Community Service in the Children, Employment and Skills Directorate. Ofsted recently rated Islington’s leadership as outstanding and our services as good and this post provides the opportunity to contribute at a senior level to the strategic delivery of excellent joined up services for vulnerable young people.
