Senior Social Worker – Integrated Gangs Team

The Islington Youth and Community Services wish to recruit a Senior Social Worker to join Islington’s Integrated Gangs Team. In line with the capability of an experienced social worker as defined by the Professional Capabilities Framework (PCF), as a senior child and family social worker you will demonstrate proficiency in responding to complex situations, assessing and managing higher levels of risk whilst striking a balance between authority and empathy. You will take a leading role in influencing the quality of practice within the Integrated Gangs Team and across the department by developing an area of practice expertise of high demand to your service area and disseminating learning to peers through consultation, training and role modelling—such as, but not limited to, domestic abuse, working with vulnerable adolescents, care proceedings, permanency planning.

The Senior Social Worker will be expected to exercise a high level of proficiency and autonomy in helping children in need of help and protection, their families and carers.

The post will be line-managed by the Integrated Gangs Team Manager and receive clinical supervisions from a Social Work Manager within the Children’s Social Care Team. The post holder will manage the 3 Missing from Home workers.

The post will be based at Islington Police Station and will require some evening and weekend work to meet the needs of young people.
