Project Manager / Specialist Advisor for Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children

Islington is looking to recruit an enthusiastic and talented project manager to our Looked After Child Service who is interested improving the outcomes for asylum seeking children and care leavers. We have high aspirations for our looked after children and care leavers and we want to secure the best possible outcomes for all of them by delivering an outstanding service.

Following a successful grant application, we are recruiting to a specialist project post to improve outcomes for asylum seeking children and care leavers. We want someone who also shows strong enthusiasm for supporting innovation and is able to champion the needs of care leavers and asylum seeking children.

We are looking for an experienced and knowledgeable person who can advise social workers and managers on how to achieve the best outcomes for all asylum seeking children and care leavers in this rapidly changing field. A social work qualification is not essential. We are looking for someone with the experience and knowledge to shape the service, someone who can make effective partnerships with all services, including the No Recourse to Public Funds Team which is based in Islington. 

The post holder will deliver briefings and training and act as a consultant to staff and be responsible for developing best practice in this area. The role is based in the leaving care team, Independent Futures which has many years’ experience of supporting unaccompanied young people. There may be opportunities to work with colleagues in Haringey, Camden and Hackney who have similar projects.
